CGSC v1.23 | The CGSC (Compute's Gazette Sid Collection) has had an update. The COMPUTE!'s Sidplayer was a music system, created by Craig Chamberlain and Harry Bratt, for the Commodore 64. The aim of the Compute's Gazette Sid Collection is to preserve as many of those Sidplayer music files in one location as possible. The current collection contains 12483 MUS, 3705 STR and 4461 WDS files. Player Identifier v1.00 | Wilfred Bos released a new program, that can identify SID players. Player Identifier is inspired by the SIDId tool written by Cadaver of Covert Bitops. Player Identifier makes use of all available cores of the CPU and uses the BNDM search algorithm to search through SID files very quickly. The system will have 8 Commodore 64 SID sound chips (4 x 6581 and 4 x 8580) 160 modulators and many control options. At the moment they have completed the feedback system, build with an LM1973 (digital volume control) and an op-amp (3x gain). The program supports the following formats: PRG, PSID/RSID and C8M, a new versatile 8-bit computer music file format. Changes in this version: The elapsed playing time is now visible. Additional info on the PSID tunes is shown in the play list window and a couple of bugfixes. Venerable Moon - C64 SID | Venerable Moon is an new SID for the Commodore C64. The demo was released at the Sundown 2012 meeting and reached the second place in the mixed music competition. The music is made by Stinsen. Pocket SID Audio Player | Jeff Ledger developed a pocket size SID music player. The SID player uses a Parallax Propeller microcontroller and a SD card to read and play the SID music. He made a manual on how to construct the hardware and you can also download the necessary software for the Pocket SID Audio Player. SID-Wizard v1.0 | SID-Wizard is a Commodore 64 music tracker made by Hermit (Mihaly Horvath). Changes in this version: Idle-graphic for improved reading of value boundaries. Tiny'R'Sid | Jürgen Wothke developed a flash based RSID music player. With this player you can listen online to your favourite SID music. The SID emulation logic is based on the TinySid code by T. Hinrichs and R. Sinsch. The player can play most PSID and RSID files, but is not 100% compatible with the real hardware. You can listen to many SIDs on Jürgen's web page. Icony - SID | Icony is a new stereo SID for the Commodore C64. The original music was made by Yogibear (Joachim Wijnhoven) for the PC. The C64 version is made by Conrad (Owen Crowley). The SID is specially written for the 8580 SID chip. Parallax SID 6581 Tunes | Andymanone used an ET-BASE PX32 Developer Board to play SID tunes. C64 Bass Guitar | At the Bay Area Maker Fair in May 2012 Jeri Ellsworth showed a new project. She made an combination of a Commodore 64 and a bass guitar. In this video Jeri shows the inside of the device and explains how it works. The system includes a guitar, a C64 keyboard, an FPGA and a real SID chip. SID-Wizard 1.0 RC | SID-WIZARD is a new Commodore 64 tracker. The program is made by Hermit and was released at the Arok Party 2012. This tracker is inspired on the well known trackers such as Goattracker, XSID, SDI and others but it also has many new and useful features. Yogi's Tiny Remixes | Yogibear started a new web page for his collection of Commodore C64 remixes. A few examples of the remixes are: Advanced Space Battle, Afterburner, Daley Thompson's Olympic Challenge, Defender of the Crown Tune, Emilio Butragueno Futbol, Erebus, The Final Assault Tune, Final Synth Sample II, FlaschBier and many more. HybridSID | Markus Gritsch has improved his HybridSID. Markus developed a program that converts the RSID format to a special format that can be used with the HybridSID. The device can now stream the data from a USB memory stick to the HybridSID without being connected to a PC. You can watch a demonstration on YouTube. RetroCade Synth | Jack Gassett started a new chip-tune hardware project. The project is based on the Papilio platform, and is designed for hardware hackers and musicians. The RetroCade Synth will play the Commodore 64 SID chip, the Yamaha YM-2149 chip, .mod files, MIDI files, and all at the same time! Specifications: 2 Audio connectors, MIDI (In, Out, Through), µSD card, Micro joystick, LCD display, 16 Analog inputs and 16 digital inputs. XSidplay2 - v2.1.2 | Tognon Stefano (ice00) released a new version of XSidplay for Linux. XSidplay is a SID music player for Linux, initially developed by Michael Schwendt.
